97 Firebird starting problems
Car decided to be pissy and not start, battery voltage checked out fine, starter and solenoid are fine, brand new battery-starter wire to replace the old corroded one. We thought that was the problem.
All connections are good also. I can run a screwdriver across the poles on the starter and it tries to start. The voltage reading to the starter is fine. When turning the key however no voltage comes to the starter from the second wire on the solenoid. So I've isolated my problem to between that connection, and the ignition switch. The fuse checks out ok. When I turn the key it does NOTHING except turn the radio off and lower the antenna. It has already sat for 6 weeks, I cannot afford to let it sit for another time I'm gone back over the road. (My other ride is a Freigtliner) I'm leaning towards ignition switch. Someone give me a clue please. I'm totally stumped. |

Re: 97 Firebird starting problems
Nope, no vats key, just a plain ole steel key. Some other people keep suggesting the ignition relay. I can't find it, it's not in the box under the hood.
