Best trouble code reader for 1999 Rodeo?

Any input on the best trouble code reader for a '99 Rodeo LS V6 3.2L, MT?

Thanks,

Mark

(I'll check my shop manual set to see if there's a code listing)

Re: Best trouble code reader for 1999 Rodeo?

For just a reader, my ~$40 harbor freight tools reader has paid for itself 20x over. Worked like a champ on my 2002 rodeo. I've used it on countless vehicles. Only one I could not get it to work on was my inlaws 1998 nissan maxima. Not sure if it's the car or my hi dollar scanner!

Re: Best trouble code reader for 1999 Rodeo?

Thanks Joel,
There's a Harbor Freight nearby so I'll have to check that out. Sweet.

In the meantime I was able to get a local shop down the street to read it for $30, and they did it on the spot.

It spit out 2 codes:
P0102 MAF or VAF CKT Low Input
P0103 MAF or VAF CKT High Input

I'll have to dig into it more now that I have that info (MAF = Mass Air Flow?).

I'm wondering if I have a bad sensor since the CKT is seeing both a low input and a high input. I'll break out the shop manual and see what it says.

Any further input on this problem greatly appreciated. I'll definitely do a full write-up and post it when I'm finished as I always do.

Thanks Joel. I stopped in at Harbor Freight and picked up a $49.99 reader. Works great.

Good deal! Did you get this one by chance? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=94168 That baby is a step up from the one I've had for a few years now. As far as your MAF code goes, I'd check it's connection and give it a spray cleaner with CRC MAF or electronics cleaner.
