Re: need advice

its a 98 with 160,000 miles. He is asking too much. If it had a brand new motor I might say yeah but you have to think about the wear and tear on a sports car that is 8 years old. Try to talk him down alil

I agree, 160K on the clock is ALOT for any car. Especially a v8 sports car. I guarentee that its been driven into the ground, and even though the body looks good, the engine and tranny are probably beat to hell. He could have done the body kit and paint 5K miles ago before selling it. Even those bolt-ons and replacement parts shouldn't change the price that much.

Re: need advice

Modded cars sell for less than stock cars.

Ugly modded cars sell for even less.

Re: need advice

While I think the paint job looks pretty good, I'm not diggin the hood and body kit. But if that's what you like then definately go check it out. But see how old the person is selling it, if its a person thats pretty young, then odds are he's beat that thing alot, especially with that many miles. The most I would offer the guy is $6,500, and that's being generous.

Re: need advice

ok thats was an itch that i had to scratch so i went to see it,the car starts rigth up,and shifts fine, paint job looks fairly new maybe a year old or so,has a few rock chips at the fron but i guess thats normal, both back tires are in bad shape, has corvette chrome wheels in perfect condition, interior its pretty stock with the exeption of a couple of pillar mounted gages and the dash that was also replaced, sound system is stockwith a cd changer in the back, the muffler ratles and hits somewhere. something that i didnt quite like it was that there were no cats,it was a straigth system, guy told me it will pass emissions fine cause the sensor are still connected so it tricks the computer?...is that normal has anyone do it?i have no way of knowing if it burns i guess i fail to ask the guy that.
so that about sums it all,i didnt make him an offer but say i wil call him later, was thinking of offering 7000 ,thats 1500 less that his asking price, but im still unsure about the whole exaust systems, theres no sense of getting it if it can pass emissions.

and with that body kit...not an everyday driver.

anyone has any input?

Re: need advice

man all those miles are sick...after 130k im doing rebuild all day long..or new engine and tranny. dont get yourself caught up in a money pit, our cars have and are known to cost us alot to keep running. they arent cheap. u can get a ls1 for 6500- 10k with under 100k miles on them all day. i would suggest u either keep looking, or give him 6k for it

Re: need advice

The headlights tighten up with one 10mm bolt or nut, I forget now...

My exhaust was hitting the floorboard on my car too, it was the transmission mount, cost me about $30 to fix.
