Rust?!?!?!?!?!?!?

i've got a 95 dx coupe, and around the rear passenger rear wheel well there's some rust developing. i've got a friend who's got a 92 sedan, and it's beginning to happen on his as well. is this a common thing to happen to the 5th gens, and can anyone suggest a cost-effective way of going about repairing it, keeping in mind that i'm going to paint the car soon (after the rust is gone). thanks alot,

-Adam

it happens to a lot of cars after the years go by, especially ones that are close to water. This is how I usually get rid of rust on the cars I work on
find the place with rust

sand it down, cut out the rust
rebuild the area, we always just use bondo and it lasts for ever despite what people say

and then have it painted

and a year later, those spots look as good as new

hope that helped

no, it is not a common problem, like it was saidb efore, if you live more near salty air, that can cause it to spread faster, or if you have sitting water or etc. also depending on what your city uses for snow, mainly salt, that will cause rust hella quick, and actually if you have a somwhat small patch, you don't need to cut it out, thats a good way to rid it, but for the cost effective person, since your getting ready to paint it, when the prep stage comes around, grind down all the rusted metal and the surriounding area, about an inch around, and once youve got it all gorund down to metal spray rust-mort on it or something like that and let it set over night then remove that and spray etch-prime then fill with bondo as needed. either way, if you do it properly, your rust problem should not return in the same area.
