check engine light

Hey all, I have a little problem, I hope, I have a 95 tahoe with 214,xxx in pretty nice shape. 5.7, 4 door, 4X4. I got this thing very cheap and then dumped about 2 grand into it.(not a happy wife) Anyways, after I drive it for a few miles, my check encine light comes on.(sometimes) Sometimes this coincides with the shifting into overdrive, and sometimes not. It does not lose any power or run crappy after this, but the light bugs me. It seems to be charging fine, oil pressure good. I changed the oil a while ago, new tires, breaks and seals, starter, plugs and air filter. Not that any of that would have anything to do with it. I do not have a tester so I was wondering what my options and course of action might be. Thanks for any halp.

Merc

This will show you how to get the codes with a paper clip. Then post back what you find.

Hey I had the same problem with my 99 tahoe, couldnt figure it out thought it was probably an O2 sensor. The vehicle was charging fine but as a last resort I put in a new batery and the check engine light hasnt come on since.
Hope this helps.

Welcome to AF, notice the age of this thread it is more than likely inactive now, appreciate you input here but at about 3 months of no activity you can assume it's done.
