2000 Voyager - Window & Steering column issues

Hi all -- Two seperate issues I would really appreciate some input on.

1. The driver side window in my voyager decided to stop working the other day (of course it is in the DOWN position). It quit working one day and after looking through the fuse block under the dash and also next to the battery it started up again (I didn't find any fuse specific to the windows and everything else including other windows works fine). I thought that maybe I had a relay loose and just the jiggle from messing around in the block fixed it. Then it dies again a couple days later and will not come back. I took the switch pad off the door and out of it's housing and found that the switch in the circuit borad was very corroded. So I got another pad from a local yard but still no dice. All other windows working find.

Are there more fuses hidden anywhere else in this van? Is there maybe a fusible link somewhere that has burned up? I have checked connections at the motor and they are good.

2. Have noticed over the last couple months a clicking/popping noise coming from steering column when turning wheel that has gotton progressively worse. The farther over you turn the wheel, the worse it gets. Someone suggested it was a U-joint in the column that allows the tilt to work. Does this sound legit?

any info or suggestions would be much appreciated

thanks

Re: 2000 Voyager - Window & Steering column issues

#1 most likely the window motor has gone bad(very common)sometimes people are able to take them apart and clean the contacts and they will work again(did that for mine 6 months ago) but first check to see if you have power going to the motor,as it could also be a broken/loose wire.

#2 not sure, but possibly clock spring, any airbag-abs-no cruise- problems?

thanks for the response earlyrizr -- how big of a mess am I looking at to take the motor apart (is it one of those deals where you pull a cover off and parts go shooting all over the place?)

no airbag/cruise issues and no ABS on the van. clockspring? I believe I saw some earlier posts about a recall on those....
