WIP:1989 Peugeot 405T16GR Rally Raid

This is the next model on the table, the 1989 Paris-Dakar winning Pioneer Peugeot.
The build will be pretty much out the box as there isn't a lot of detail parts for this kit.
I want to add front spots and the extra spare wheel on the roof as per the 2 pics shown. I need 2 wheels and tires if anyone can help with those?

Nice project!
I can't wait for you to start sharing this build. I can only dream on getting my hands on this model.

Sorry I can't help you with those wheels!

Will be looking forward to seeing this build develop (yet another kit I gotta build some day ). For the spare wheels, could casting in resin be an option? I seem to recall the kit "features" a plastic spare that could be used as a master.

The spare is not wide enough to be a full spare.
It's nice to see one built up, I have the same kit that's being converted to a '88 version.

I know where one of each of these kits is. Im in Japan and sourcing models is relatively easy. I know the Yellow version is complete and unbuilt although the Blue pioneer version (this one) is missing decals. if anyone really wants one of them let me know.

Best of luck with the model, my father has built the yellow one, and they really look good built up. Did Ari Vatanen pilot both of the colour schemes?

Will be watching closely.

Yes Ari drove both cars, Pioneer anc Camel.
he was leading the race in 1988 with the pioneer 405 when it was stolen... bye one of Peugeot mechanics !
then he lost first place and Kankkunen won with the 205.
in 1989 Ari won with the Pioneer 405 and in 1990 with the Camel one.
Team manager Jean Todt wanting to fix the fight between Ari and Jacky Ickx in 1989 let the hazard chose the winner: they draw with pile or face ! And Ari won... obviously his strangest victory !

Re: WIP:1989 Peugeot 405T16GR Rally Raid

Guys, this one is going nicely, all parts prepped and first coats of paint going on. I'l post shots as soon as something interesting takes shape.
BUT I'm unhappy with the shade of blue on the decals. Far too turquoise. What are my options, are there any aftermarket decals for this?
