tranny questions

im trying to find as much info on swapping a th350 to a th700R. i want to do this on my 79 in the future. Just wondering if any one had any good links on the specs of these transmissions as far as the lengths, bolt patterns, crossmember mounts, or any thing else related to the swap.

Re: tranny questions

As far as bolt patterns, it should bolt right up to any Chevy V8. Be aware you are going to need a different length drive shaft (shorter I think). If it needs to be shortened, just about any trans shop should be able to do that for you.

Re: tranny questions

I knew about the shorter drive shaft could be up to 3 in shorter as well as possibly moving the crossmember. The other thing is I have the olds 403 which has the BOP bolt pattern (found some adapters to fit the two together on summit thanks). Guess i should have said its a 79 firebird.
