Key wont turn in ignition??

The other night I got home and my key was hard to get out of the ignition, I got it out but the next morning it would not turn when I try starting it. It seems like the key isnt going in all the way. It is sitting outside with the windows down and I would really like to at least get the windows up before a storm comes in. If anyone one knows of anything I can do to either get power to roll up my windows or to get it to start let me know. Could it be that its not sensing it is in part or something, is there some wires that are bad that could be causing this. Well thanks for any info I get.

Keith

Re: Key wont turn in ignition??

If it is located on the steering column you have a tumbler setup. You need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate tool. While parts stores sell them original equipment lasts longer. Auto zone or advance auto may rent tools. The ignition switch is lower on the column a rod about 12 to 18 inches long pushes in the switch when you turn the key.
Try wiggling the steering wheel to get the key to move. If you can't do it yourself if you get it started go to a garage to avoid towing.

the steering wheel isin't locked, the key won't go in, maybe you have something stuck in their, if the problem persists perhaps remove the ignition lock and replace it with a new one
