grand prix speed

I've been reading through this forum, and the clubgp.com forums and theres alot of modding going on for speed and such. My question is, why put all your money into speed for a car that is auto only? maybe i'm missing something, but doesnt it make a big difference? the grand prix will be first car, my dad is giving it to me so i like the car, but im just curious.

Secondly, what kind of 1/4 times can i expect in a 99 stock gt? and how good is the handling, will it be able to hold its on at some auto x events?

Re: grand prix speed

GT's are a mid/high 15 sec car. The GTP, with mostly bolt-on mods, can get deep in the 13's. For those that own GTP's (my current GP is a 99 GT also), the look on Mustang drivers faces after getting owned by a FWD family car must be priceless.

Re: grand prix speed

yeah priceless is my best description, my first kill after the pulley swap on like a '99-'04ish GT when I got to the next light(after beating him) the guy tried to be all cocky and said sarcasticallY: "Nice job man, my mom has a grand prix"... I guess that is supposed to be some kind of a put down, but i just responded with "Well, drive it next time, maybe it'll be a better race"... he then proceeded to shut the hell up and got that puzzled look on his face, so I guess I won that battle too...
