What else can go wrong today?
So yesterday I ordered a new server for a branch office. Today it arrives and it's a tower case instead of rack mount. Great. It will take 3 days to find out one way or the other whether we can return it or not. And our branch office still needs a server built.
So I get one of the servers we're not using out of the rack, yeah we can use it but it only has 1 x 73gb hard drive, and I need at least 2 to build a RAID. No worries, we have 2 x 73gb drives sitting in another server (just happens to be our FUCKING ACCOUNTING AND CRM SERVER) doing nothing. I'll use one of them. And then the thing blue screen on me and gets stuck in a constant loop, won't boot again. F*&k!! So I boot into the RAID setup and tell it to rebuild the array. This will either fix the problem and I'll have a functional accounting server again, or it will permanantly hose the accounting server. It's 31% rebuilt at the moment. So I have: no server for our branch office, no accounting server (at the moment, could go either way) and I'm afraid someone is about to walk into our comms room and ask me why shit isn't working.  FUCK.

 The accounting server looks f*cked. I have backups, and I'll try to recover it, but it doesn't look promising.As for why I'm posting on here, well it sure beats looking at a progress bar that is only doing 1% every 5 mins.

Man I feel for you. I'm an assistant network admin (youth apprenticeship) and my last job there was a few meltdowns. Thank God it was the library and the things that melted down were not very important (well accesablity but not records wise).

Branch server nearly up and running. Accounting/CRM server not needed until Monday week, giving me 3-4 days next week to re-build. All getting sorted, but I hate screwing up.
And I screwed up big time yesterday. Oh well. Live, learn, move on with life.
