Annoying Engine Code..

Hey guys, i have an annoying prob, my check engine light comes on once and awhile, and if im lucky and dont have to unplug the batt, it goes away.. Its very weird, it comes on and off, like its been off for 4 days, then its on now, and goes off, and next day its back. One thing ive noticed when the engine light comes on is the Rad fan runs 24/7. Is this just showing that the electrical has a prob? Or is it probably the rad fan thats the prob? I have to pull the fuse so it doesent run 24/7, it makes it run worse and hogs more fuel.

Re: Annoying Engine Code..

if your car is running worse and getting worse milage, theres more to this problem then just the radiator fan running constantly, just get the codes read, most auto parts stores do it for free

Re: Annoying Engine Code..

the fan is most likely runing because the computer has gone into fail safe mode(or limp home mode) meaning the computer knows there is a problem and it doesn't know how to solve it, so until a technicion fixes the problem, the computer will do what ever it can do to prevent the problem from getting worse, for example if the computer doesn't know what tempature the engine is, it will turn on the fan because it is safer to have a cool engine then to be overheating.(there are other reasons failsafe mode would turn on the fan.)

Re: Annoying Engine Code..

Are there Autozones in Canada? They do it for free. A regular walk in mechanic shop might do it for free, just gotta ask around.

Re: Annoying Engine Code..

Sears sells the scanners for about $100. You will have to use a scanner to remove the codes. Unhooking the battery won't remove codes.
