Idle keeps me cold!

Here is a strange one for me - I have an '82 pickup, the truck runs great when the air conditioner is running. As winter is coming I turned the air off and the idle became really rough. Do I need to adjust my idle? I know in new cars when the air is turned on the idle increases to meet the demand - would this be happening to me, just having the regular idle to low?
Thanks for any help!

Yes on your carburated engine you have three idle speeds to be concerned with. A/C on, Idle W A/C off, And engine off so that it does not diesel.
