1999 Rodeo ?
Hi guys,
I have an opportunity to buy a 1999 Rodeo with 98,XXX miles for $4,500. It is a 5 speed LS model with the 3.2l V6. I am wondering if it is a good deal. I haven't been to the dealer yet so I don't exactly know how good it is. What should I look for on the short test drive? I have read that intake manifold gaskets and fuel sending units are problem areas with these vehicles. Is there anything else I should check for? Thanks for any help. |

Re: 1999 Rodeo ?
I would take a peak under it to see how the exhaust is holding up.
If you do buy it, watch the oil. Some Rodeo's like to burn up to 1qt per 1k. Also if you do buy it and have no maintaince history, swap out all the filters and fluids you can, and change the plugs. Also keep in mind that in the next year or so you will need to change the timing belt (water pump, belt tensor ....). If it is at a dealer I would also want to know how much brake pad life is left. many Isuzu's go 80k-120k on the orginal pads. If everything is bone stock never touched you are probably looking at 1000 bucks worth of things to replace over the next 12 months to keep the truck in tip top shape.

Thanks for the input. Are there any transmission issues I should look out for? I appreciate the help.

not with the stick. I'm not sure how you would detmine if the clutch is slipping or not.

I have driven manuals since my first car. You can feel it when it slips.

Re: 1999 Rodeo ?
Thats a pretty good price. I bought mine last year with 88k miles for $5500 but it had brand new clutch, t-belt, water pump, tensioner, and windshield. I've had to put some money into it (more then I thought I would) because of previous owner neglect but its been solid. None of the fluids or fuel filter had ever been changed in it except engine oil. Luckily mine isnt an oil burner.
If it still has the stock shocks I would look into getting them replaced. Mine rode horrible until I replaced the worn out stockers with monroe sensa tracs.
