Tranny fluid contaminated with water?

I need help from all you tranny guys out there...My tranny began being sluggish when I moved from Park to Reverse or Drive....It takes a couple of seconds to catch...I pulled the dipstick and the fluid looks thin and contains bubbles...I called some tranny shops and they said it definitely sounds like water got in the tranny fluid somehow...I'm about to flush it through the cooler lines with some massive amounts of tranny fluid...Is there anything else to help get it out?? An additive that could help dry the water up?? This seems ridiculous to have an automatic if a few drops of water can dust off a tranny...Anyways, I would love to have some ideas....I'm not missing any antifreeze so I don't think that is leaking.....

Welcome to the forum. I dont know of any additive that you can put in a trans to get water out, flushing is the best way that I know of. If you get it flushed and it happens again and you are not driving though alot of water then it is probably the trans cooler in the radiator, you will either have to replace the radiator or bypass and use an after market cooler. Hope this helps.

****Update****

The fluid was not contaminated with water, but simply low on fluid a quart or so....I finally got in contact with a good friend who was a tranny specialist in a previous life...Bubbles in the fluid always means the fluid is low and the fluid is simply being churned around getting infused with air. Or in some specials cases the filter was installed wrong and it's sucking air up through the seal. So I added some fluid and zero problems thus far. It's very tricky because when you check the dipstick it's on the level looks on the money because the fluid is frothed up and thus taking up more volume in the pan. I never knew this until now...hope this helps others in the future.
