Tires?

First off , let me say that I have a 1996 Cavalier. I just brought some rims which are BSA 319 17x7 blk /machined lip. Now I need tires to go on them. I'm kind of stuck because I dont want to have to buy tires two different times. Heres the thing. My car is sitting stock as of right now. I want to do a eibach lowering spring on it that will prolly drop it a 1.4 inch rear n front. I'm also putting a full kit on it as well. The Problem( Tires, I'm not sure which ones to go for so they wont rubb while driving or turning) Any help can be considered please. Thanks

There really shouldnt be any problem with rubbing or anything. The bigger the wheel gets, the smaller the tire gets. So it'll only be a little bit off of stock. You could probabley drop it more then 2" and still not rub.

Oh ight, but im not going to drop it more than 2" because i dont want to get pulled for illegal ride hight or anything like that even tho im planning on takin it off the road for show but in the mean time im going to drive it on and off

First thing you need to ask your self when looking for tires is, Do you want good handeling, or do you want a long tread life? Tire manufacturers use a tire comparassion called UTQG which is deemed by them for rubber hardness. Higher the #, the harder the rubber is and longer the tread life. Lower the # the softer the rubber which makes for real sticky good handeling tires, but you'll eat them right up. ALOT of these tires you see from Toyo, Nankang, Kuhmo are all in the 200 range of that chart out of 600. This is also why alot of low profile tires have no tread wear warrenty's and are usually killed within 15K-20K miles. When i got my 18"s, i looked for the best deal I could find and found a set thats right smack in the middle on the higher side. 380 UTQG. Rubber isn't cheap... You just gotta know what you want out of your tires.

i liek the rubber i got for my tires.. got it them for nohting 245/35/17 and they are wider and i love it how they look on the car they are like daytona HR or something o ya i got like half of a inch of clearerance on the front 2 from the back of the wheel well and the bottom of the shock :S
