Re: springs

Ok this might be a dumb question but whatever...

Both of my springs are broken. I've had people tell me that the springs aren't that important since people alter them all the time. Is it ok to drive around with the springs broken? How much should I pay to get them fixed?

I've got a few other suspension problems (ball joints, etc. need replacing), it seems like it might be more beneficial to get those things fixed rather than the springs. What would you fix first?

Re: springs

fix the springs... if you don't, you will just end up wearing out your new parts again and having to replace them prematurely.

ppl that cut their springs are (love carlos mencia) "Dee Dee Dee" IMO

I've torched them before... not entirely a good idea.. but ALOT safer.. in any event, get your springs fixed.. they are where most of the suspension force is generated and impact absorbed. usually, you can take out your struts and compress them BY HAND to reinstall them... try it with a coil one time... lol

also, as far as i know, ALL honda struts (and their direct replacements) are one way action... in other words, they bound, but they depend on the spring to rebound for the most part... they will come back out on their own, but VERY slowly... so another opinion is to find something that will fit from another car, and install them if you can find out that they are two way dampeners.

PS.. having broken springs will also prematurely wear your struts.. so you pry need those too.
