Wheel Interchangeability/fitment

I have a new 2006 Jetta 2.0T with 16 inch 5 X 112 wheels and the factory offset is 50. I think I can go with audi or other vw offsets down to an E43 offset for snowtire rims. I can't find any information on interchangeability in the audi, vw family, and on ebay there seems to be some implied misinformation. Does anybody know if the older passat and audi 5 X 112 bolt pattern fits these newer jettas? I was wondering whether the center bore was the same.
