Tamiya Mercedes SLR In Progress

Hi guys... finally get my hands started building this kit...
Bad weather these few days, so most of the time doing masking and some painting of small parts....

First... this is the body of SLR from Tamiya..

Sprayed a layer of chrome silver

Mask it because the body will be another colour....

Mask some of the interior too! Will get it spray when time permits...

Lastly....some serious paintings I have done today...

Thanks for viewing...

Re: Tamiya Mercedes SLR In Progress

Painting and carbon decals done on the wheel housing...
will be adding more details.

A closer look....

As usual good fitting of the rims and tyres...
some details were added to the rims..

Just attached the front uprights, calipers and suspension..

A peep to the interior, not finished yet...
but i'm quite please with the result.

The interior of the doors are quite a headache to mask...
here's the result after pieces attached...

Last but not least, the airbox. This is also a headache
part to mask in order to get the right colour of the
original car air box. Hope I have the time to do some
wiring and paintings around...

Re: Tamiya Mercedes SLR In Progress

Did the interior yesterday

and here's some progress today. Added some details and colouring to the "wires" around the engine bay and wheel housing and i'm quite please with the results.

The result of my SLR interior

Fixed up the back lights

Gonna do my SLR exterior now... Cheers! The exterior colour is a mystery

Looking great. It's tempting me to go out and get this kit. The interior detail is amazing as well.

Wow. That's looking great. My LHS had one in stock, and I was about seven seconds away from buying it before I remembered that $60 is a bit when you're trying to stay on a budget and afford a new 1:1. Maybe after payday; and until then, I will just enjoy your immaculate work!

I just might have to get one of those, they seem to be popping up everywhere on here. Maybe I will do a Yellow one?!

Hi... too late i did not do a pre-fit and paint is already on. Managed to rush and completed the kit in 3 days. No choice, my finished SLR will be display with the doors open. I will be more careful if i'm doing another SLR. Meantime, hope to bring the SLR out for some shots maybe this 1 or 2 days time
