2001 Altima Speaker Change

I want to change the front car audio apeaker for 2001 Nissan Altima GXE. Can anyone help me in removing the side panel of the front door and fixing it again? I found that it doesnt have screws...

Suggestions for good and cheap speakers are welcome too. Let me know if you know any good website for it...

There should only be a couple screws, the panel is held on by clips that are plastic and are easy to brake.
The proper tool for the removal of door panel is called a door panel puller.
Any decent shop auto parts store should have one for sale.
As for the speakers, i would stay with the stock size, but upgrade to a 3 way speaker. Each different brand has its own unique sound so it comes down to sound preference. I would suggest going to the local shops and listening to the different speakers to find the sound u are after.
Also a sound deadening kit might be an idea if you find the door rattles alot when you are listening to your music. It is a layer of sound proofing that will go around the base of the speaker compartment that stops the rattle.

Re: 2001 Altima Speaker Change

I just bought a stereo from Crutchfield. I did not want to spend much money upgrading my stereo, but my factory paper and plastic cones had detached themselves from the housing!

Crutchfield had prices better than Wal-Mart, free shipping, $20 off your first order, and excellent instructions. Class-A company.

I have an '01 GXE as well. I got the door panels by unscrewing the screws in the handles, pulling out and unplugging the window controls, popping off the forward sail panels (from the top), and prying the door apart with a 5-in-1 painter's tool wrapped in a towel. There are retention clips that are easy to release if pulled perfectly perpendicular to the door. Once the
clips were released, the door lifted right off. Getting the door panels back on were tricky for me; a bit of force was required to get it to sit in on the top again. Crutchfield's instructions helped me through this, and this was my first install.

The head unit was much easier to replace, and the rear speakers took much longer. The rears require the back seat to be taken out to remove the side bolsters to remove the sail panels, etc...
