Re: airbag code

I searched through the forum and found a reference to code 35 being related to the passenger side airbag... but I don't have a passenger side bag. Is there a reason I would get the code anyway? I can't find any info on code 53... is ther e a code 53?

The code 35 and 53 are not air bag codes for you car.
How are you checking for air bag codes or what kind of scanner ar you using?
What engine and transmission?
Are you sure they are not engine codes?

Re: airbag code

They are airbag codes... got them by counting how many times the airbag light blinked... I just don't know whether the 5 was first or the 3 was first. It kept repeating til I shut the car off.

This morning when I started it up it was no longer flashing. I'd still like to find out what might have been causing it... something is starting to go screwy with it.

There should be long and short flashes.
The long flashes are for the first no in code and the short are for the last no in code.
Like 5 long and 3 shorts is a code 53.
But I look at the air bags codes for your cat and 35 and 53 are not shown on it.
You might try clearing codes and see what comes back.
If it keeps on giving problems see if you can find someone with a air bag scanner. It may show the problem.
Good Luck

Re: airbag code

The blinks were an even length... somewhat fast. A pause between the numbers. I know code 35 is a reference to the passenger bag, which I don't have... just don't know if there is a 53. Also don't know where to look to figure out what the heck is wrong
At least it went away... but it makes me wonder if my airbag is even working now...

Subscribing......

Over the past month or so, my dash airbag light has started blinking intermittently. Last time it did it, was about three days ago. With mine, it'll blink as long as the car is running. So far, shutting the car off, and then restarting will cause the flashing light to stop. I hadn't bothered counting the flashes, but will next time it does it.

A code 35 or 53 is not a air bag code on your car.
But just watching or counting the light flashes does not get the codes.
You will need a air bag capable scanner to get codes.
If light is on or blinking your air bag may not work.
The clock spring in the steering wheel is one problem they have.
When the light comes on or flashes turn key off and move steering wheel to a different spot and turn key back on and check light.
If the light stays off it may point to a bad clock spring but not a true test just a indication.
Get a air bag cpable scanner on it when the light is on or blinking.
Good luck and let us know how it goes or post back code no from scanner.
