funny stuff... 1st drawings

Hey

this is just some funny pics i found on sportbikerider.us ... those are my very 1st drawings related to sportbikes. I think its year 2000 or maybe 2001. Im not sure. Thats when I started drawing for some reason. I dont know why, i just wanted to, very much. I remember the day when I decided to draw some bikes, went to the shop, bought some random pencils, pens and paper and started drawing ( trying to ).

I know its very funny, but we have all started somewhere.

... so its just now that i realize that i "lied" .. I have used CP's before.. there is some blue color pencil and maybe some others.. I really dont remember though, it could be pastel.

I have an example that practice makes better. And its the only way. (Im not trying to say that my work is very good, but the improvement is probably even more than i expected, and I can only see it while looking back at those old pics!)

Anyway, the point of this thread, I wanted to ask you guys to post your 1st works that you have scanned/pictured, some old stuff, comparing to your current stuff. I just realized now how nice it is to look back sometimes. . And, its also interesting to hear.... how, when and WHY did you start drawing cars ( or bikes as in my case )? Im sure some of us have very different stories/reasons...

just to compare here are some of my last ones, ( that you've seen already) in 3 different mediums, so i guess its been 4 or 5 years of drawing just to get here... so I hope for more improvement, because I plan to keep doing this for as long as i live .

Re: funny stuff... 1st drawings

My mother still has my first car rendering at age 4 1/2! I'll have to post mine at some point too.

Those bike renderings are great! I can't believe the detail!

Sorry for the quick hyjack, Lemorris, do you design your own fonts in your artwork or do you download them from a site like www.1001fonts.com? I suck at designing typography and cool fonts. Thanks!

Re: funny stuff... 1st drawings

This is a great idea for a thread.

Okay, here's a set of mine, the Mustang was done back in high school.

Those are some really "wobbly" ellipses on that Mustang and the perspective lines need help!

Must of my stuff back then was attempted as more realistic type renderings.
The Mustang was redone in color pencil and given to a friend who owned that car.
I think I really traded it for a manifold/carb set. That's how I got most of my speed parts back then.
Trading drawings for left-over parts.

Yeah sure post! But its better if you post one of those that you did when you were trying to do it seriously.. the ones at 4 years old is a different thing ( also interesting though )

Blip, nice one .. That 1st drawing is 9 years older than I am!

Re: funny stuff... 1st drawings

Hmmm...let's see. I don't have my very first drawing of a car since it was when I was 5 years old. Back then, there were no internet or even PCs for all that matters. But I do still have some back in my junior high days, when I was around 13 years old. After 16 and up, I started to draw them by memory. Forced myself to do it because I figured that I won't learn anything about perspective if I keep looking at a picture and draw it. Took some time to memorized over 100 cars the dimensions and all, but once you got your perspective down, it's cake. You will see some of my dimensions changing over the years and my shading technique. Everything you see in my drawing is trial and error. I've taught myself in shading and perspective and all, with the help of some art classes in school of course, but everything else is all me. I never went to some fancy art classes after school or a art academy.

13 years old. (Yeah don't ask)

Wow KustmAce, you are either trying to be funny but failing miserably, or you didn’t read what SieG said

Re: funny stuff... 1st drawings

Okay, now I'm confused, besides being "old."
This is a great thread to see the now and then stuff,
but should each of us just do a separate post?

It's fun seeing how you all improve thru practice.

Now back to finding my cane and teeth.
