So...

Let's say this guy owns a Red 1999 Chevy Cavalier 2 Door Base Model Coupe with 20% tint, black rims, and a custom exhaust....and let's say he's not me...Then this guy asks a forum about something he's been noticing lately with mine.....his car.

His friend told him (when they were behind the car, listening to his newly impressable exhaust) that when he started it he spyed black smoke roll out of the exhaust then the normal ammount of whiteish. Then at the same time he said that, you..he noticed a sort of rattling noise sounding like it's coming from under the hood towards the passenger side... Only rattling when the accelerator is pressed. So needless to say you rev the engine and you hear a slight rattle that gets worse if you put it in drive or reverse and drive on it...It will, however go away after awhile like, if you drive to school and back. It won't rattle on your way in the driveway, but it will on your way to school.

My clean engine is getting mighty dirty with oil and what not.

Could I have blown my head gasket?

and of course, murphy's law, If something is broken and you try to show someone else it works perfectly...that is why you don't have a video or audio clip...

Re: So...

By the looks of it, and if that oil near your plugs is new, I'd say yes.

Re: So...

Look more like your valve cover gasket went shot ski rather than your head gasket. The rattling is most likely a noisy valve train due to the lack of oil. Which is all over your engine, lol. I'd highly reccomend you not drive your car till you get to the bottom of that. Your on your way to seizing up your engine if you continue to drive it like that in time. How many miles are on this vehicle. I had to replace mine at 50Kish miles since I had a random drip commin from mine that was annoying me.

He said it was coming from under the hood on the passenger side so I dont think its the cat or heatshield. could be timing chain, alternator bearing, valves.

Re: So...

this sucks balls, lol. Yeah but see. If I don't drive it...then I don't drive. Like i said It only does it when It's cold, once the engine warms up it's fine. and Yes I do think I need something done under the hood. I might take it to a machanic soon. But not today, I have school tomorrow til 5, and I have to work thursday until 5:30, and we're suppose to put my body kit on Friday...So either like It gets looked at while I'm at school, and I steal my mom's car or...Mom takes me to work Thursday and they look at it then.

Re: So...

That's definetly a valve cover gasket that's gone in that. Get that fixed and go from there.

Re: So...

okay, I think I fixed the rattle, there were some rocks in my heat shield DUH!!! Idiot! lol. Oh and you know where the headeR connects to the engine at? well the far right screw/bolt thing was about half way unscrewed...Don't ask why, It just was. So now it is all tight, and I cleaned my engine off real good. So I'm about to make a 2 hour round trip and I'll check for more oil when I get back. I did add some oil to my car, it was about halfway in the middle and it was a dark brown ...need to get that changed. Also added fuel injector cleaner and slapped on my strut tower bars...boy what a day, that took like an hour tops, I am pooped, lol.... Goodnight.
