Best $ for wheelbearings

Since I've seen quite a few posts like mine about wheel bearings, who's got the best price?

jdq: Did you fix the roaring noise starting around 40mph with the front hub replacement? Was yours no ABS hubs (ABS in rear only)?

If you call your VIN # into Dodge 800-992-1997 between 8-5 all time zones it says on dodge.com, they can tell you.

To update you on what I found out today, I stopped into a local pepboys that was slow & they said they could look at it right away. The mechanic & I took a short ride & it sounded to him like one or both hubs were making that bad noise.

But when we got back to the shop & put it on the lift, you could see that all 4 ball joints were shot, particularly the uppers & as well as the drivers side inner tie rod. He said that the left front tire had developed cupping (probably from the worn out suspension) & that was probably causing the noise. Cupping was just little bumps about 2 inches in from the inner edge that you can readily feel when you spin the tire. I guess they can form anywhere.

Anyway, I'm going to fix the suspension & take the bad tire back to try & get them to replace it under my road hazard warranty. Will dirty up the new parts with some grease or something.

I would take them to an independent mechanic to have them & the lowers checked again. I don't trust dealerships. If they can't generate cash, they don't try very hard.

Mine's a 1999 & the local dealership plus Dodge says no to my VIN #.

Also http://www.dodge.com/owners/index.html

Top, middle left you'll see recall notices. Click that & enter the last 8 #s of your VIN

Your complete VIN will print out & any known recalls.

Here's what I found -- for the front hub with ABS sensor
NAPA - $207ea Autozone - $189ea Roadiron parts on Ebay $97ea (the shipping to me in Ohio was $20) , and he has a lot of other rotors, tie-rods, brakes etc for many different vehicles.
