Hello all,
Here's the situation. I commute several times/week about an hour away on the Interstate. I'm braking at 70-80mph. Last December I replaced the front rotors with standard rotors (no drilling/slots) and the brake pads with a ceramic pad (so I've been told). These pads have created little dust. I did the brake job because I was feeling a shimmy when I braked on and coming off the highway. I thought the rotors were warped. Now, 9 months later the shimmy when braking has become unbearable again. Before I replace the rotors and pads again, does anyone have any ideas as to why when braking there is this shimmy? Is there a rotor/brake pad compatibility issue? Are the brake rotors warping under the high heat caused by higher speed braking? Is it possible that the front hubs are not true? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Adios.

Well, technically when you replace rotors you're supposed to kind of ease into them. It isn't recommended to go right out and do heavy braking for about 100 miles. This causes the rotors to warp prematurely. If you have a micrometer laying around the garage, measure the rotors. If you don't have one, see if you can't dig one up from someone. If by a "shimmy" you mean a sort of pulsation then a warped rotor, or unevenly worn brake pads is the likely cause. I hope this helps.
