Any problems with the 2004 Grand Prix GT?

Are there any common problems or recalls on the 2004 Gt's out there right now that a guy should be aware of? What should a guy expect out of the 3800 engine as far as being realiable and for gas mileage? Thanks

Im not aware of any recalls, I haven't look to be honest. But, the 3800 Series II that was in my Oldsmobile Intrgue was rock solid, in 150k, I replaced the alternator (it wasn't dead, just loud) and the battery. The gas mileage is awesome for a 3.8l V6, estimates are at 30mpg highway. 2004 GP's use a refined Series III which I suspect to be even better.

Personally, Im looking at a 2006 GP GT right now. Im not sure on how the S/C 3800III holds up.

Re: Any problems with the 2004 Grand Prix GT?

without the vin # its hard to tell if there are any recalls i do know of at least 1 recall that pertained to the right rear brake hose fitting not being torqued correctly at the fatory but i know that most of these were taken care of before the cars were ever sold. as far as the 3.8l engine this was one of gm's most solid powertrains i have ever work on.

Re: Any problems with the 2004 Grand Prix GT?

What is a good price to pay for a 04 GT2, with about 60k miles, in great shape other than a few dings and a crack in the bumper where it was bumped by another car. I have looked it up one KBB and it just doesn't seem right figured someone else would know for sure. Thanks

Edit: This would be from a Private Party and not a dealer.

Re: Any problems with the 2004 Grand Prix GT?

well i just bought my 2000 gtp with 59,000 for 9,000 and i love this thing so far.i traded my eclipse gs and man this thing is way faster.but for it being supercharged, from a stop it flys and from 20-30 it flys but on the highway i know mine is stock for now,but on the highway its not as fast as i thought it would be.I mean it is but i expected more.but i am just getting used to it.
