Radio with CD
Does anyone know if the new radio with the CD player will work in the 2004 New Beetle. My wife doesn't want to mess with a changer but she loves the red illumination of the stock unit. Thanks for your input.

Can you please explain what the "new radio with the CD player" is - our 2003 NB has the red outlined radio with CD player as standard and I was under the impression this carried on till at least 2004 (in Australia). Apart from that, its possible to change the illumination colour by changing the globes.

My wifes 2004 New Beetle has an in dash radio with the cassette deck. The dealership told us that an in dash cd player wasn't available but we would have to get the cd-changer in the center console.

Maybe its different in Australia to where you live though ours was 'factory fitted' presumably in Mexico. The radio/CD is a Eurovox model 5680VW.
If you really wanted one and your dealer says its 'not available', then I'd contact VW head office or maybe even a VW agent in Australia or Europe. Maybe even the Eurovox people in Australia who 'should' carry new ones. Good Luck.
