93 dakota radio/cd wiring...

Hey... i've been trying to put a cd player in a '93 dakota, but im going insane. I've installed many cd players into cars and never have any problems. First, it worked.. but had that problem with the car's interior lights being dimmed or not, but as of now.. Its all hooked up to where it turns on and off normally, excpet the cd player isn't storing any settings. After the car is shut off for about 5min or so, the cd player defaults all of the settings (stations, bass, trebel, etc)... does anyone know what is goin on?

thanks..
