Are the cops being bullies?

I am posting this to find out if people feel that they are being profiled by cops and subsequently pull over for an inspection.

Have the cops been justified each time you have been pulled?

We don't have inspections here, but back in the day in my civics and CRX, I used to get followed everywhere. One summer in my CRX I recieved over 20 citations, all except 1 speeding ticket were BS, and would not have been an issue if I was in another type of vehicle. They ranged from modified exhaust, to different address on registration and liscence, to obstructing traffic. All were throw out, all should not have been given and were a waste of my productive time.

Sucks to hear that. I just put TYC tails on my car and they came with amber turn signal bulbs but i want to just keep the clear ones in. Everytime a cop is behind me I feel as if he is waiting to pull me for it. One cop tailed my ass for 3 miles on my way to work.

I dont' know if its better to get a fix-it ticket or to just not use my signal when a cop is behind me and risk a "failure to signal properly ticket".

Am I being paranoid or do you think they probably would pull me for it anyways?

I would rather have white turn signals because everyone else has red or amber turn signals. It helps me stick out and be different.

THanks for the help.

My last ticket was for speeding, and yes I was speeding. Running down a straight stretch on the parkway at 125mph, cop popped over the hill so I hammered the brakes. He clocked me at 94 in a 65. It could have been worse.

I haven’t been pulled over for anything yet. They are really cracking down on loud (or what they consider loud) exhausts over here so I have to be careful when going uphill next to a cop!

Not in my honda because I dont rice the fuck out of it like most do but in my 71 bug I have been harrassed. I made a left on red at an intersection that I was unfamilair with and didnt realize it was controlled by a left turn signal light. The cop saw me do it and I saw the cop before I did it. I asked him if he honestly thought I was that dumb and he said perhaps... He proceeded to inspect my car for everything, even though here in Maryland if your car is 25 calender years or older you can qualify for "street rod " tags )which my car has) and there are no guidelines that your vehicle must follow as far as modifications go. My bug was slammed, weld wheels, big motor, straight stinger exhaust, candy paint, etc. He did not give me a fix it ticket but wrote a ticket for the light and called me quote " a fucking liar" because when he had asked me if i had ever gotten a ticket before I told him that I had not. He ran my info and I had forgotten about a no front plate violation that i had gotten when I was 17. i was 22 when this happened. Citations go away after 3 years and the plate violation did not carry points in the first place. So he called me a fucking liar. Well my gf was there at the time and heard it. Turns out though my GFs mom works at the district station and is in charge of most of these cocky ass 25 year old wannabe cops. So I say, how about we go downtown, and talk to "Mrs. ____" and he says sure lets. So go down there with him, and of course, my mother in-law to be is in the station. I walk up and explain my side, he gives her his and then I bring in the ace in the hole - My girlfriend and her daughter. Now who do you think got the ass reaming that night? Who was she to believe? As I left her office I turned to the cop and said " Now sir, I want you to have a nice night, alright? And please, be safe out there" God I hate cops. Fuck them all. I hate this profiling shit. Check my ID for my age before you start treating me like some newjack 16 year old with a hooked up rice mobile. Its too bad they dont focus some effort into stinging drug deals instead of stinging decent cars. Sorry for the long post guys.

'round these parts we have a couple of those towns with overfunded police departments who employ twice the amount of cops they should have in the first place. the recent addition to the patrol is a riced out eclipse that they use as an undercover traffic car. if you look at this thing from the outside, it just looks like any other eclipse that some 17 year old with money owns. (tint, lowered, ect..) anyway, these pigs will line it up with you and, like everyother ock with some adrenaline, you will probably take off. of course they are going to pull your ass over. this department is also renowned for harrassment. one of my local heros is a man who sat outside a local java stand in his bathrobe for 8 hours with a sign that read "stop pacific (the town) police harrassment". if he saw a cop roll by, he'd stand up and hold it high. made me happy that somebody was standing up for the rest of us.

a friend of mine with an exhaust tip the size of a D cup (his dad's doing) is always being profiled as a racer and getting pulled over for it. same town... i guess they have to meet their quota somehow.

another rant: i don't know if anybody else has it, but we have this new policy called "click it or ticket". this enables the pigs to pull us over now to check to see if we have seatbelts on. pretty much this gives them the right to pull us over and use that as an excuse. it used to be that they had to pull us over for something else, such as speeding as a primary offense. now the seatbelts are primary. what's next? garbage bags as a primary offense? we are losing our freedom as american motorists one day at a time and it sickens me. stand up for yourself, write your congressman, whatever the hell it takes.. just don't put up with it because it's bullshit.

i don't see how anybody would want to be a cop. if i knew i made tons of peoples day shitty every single day, that would be ultimate guilt. one message to the corrupt pigs: :finger: :finger4:

Wink Click It or Ticket

Here is South Carolina they tried to pull that bullshit but some people sued the state. And now it's in court battles right now. Because seatbelt is a secondary offense and you can't be pulled for that.

But Seatbelts aren't a concern for me because if I'm gonna drive crazy and race like I do I wanna survive my crash. Plus once I get my new racing seats a harness put on it'll will be cool to wear my belts.

I'm sure a lot of people would want to be cops. That way they could rice out their car and still be able to drive around without being pulled because they know all of the cops and can get out of it. Plus couldn't you just imagine all the free doughnuts?

Side note bitching: My Gf's ex-boyfriend is a cop so argueing with her about how cops profile is a loss cause because she always takes the cop's side. She hates how I drive and anytime we go somewhere it's in her car.

Ok, I have only had one ticket, which was in my civic, left turn on a red, from the right lane. Was gonna be $281, but I went to court and got that mother fucker reduced to $175.

Here is all the other bullshit I have been pulled over for (no tickets). (I have had 2 cars)

73 MBB-GT (December 1999 - November 2001)

Driving the wrong way up a one way
Right Turn on a red without making a complete stop
Juvenile Deliquency (they thought I was ditching)
A number of "California Stops"
Exhaust too loud (I had 2 cherry bombs and nothing else)
Brake light was orange (the fucker faded)
80 in a 60 (cop got another call)
No Windsheild (car was in the process of being prepped for painting)

91 Civic Sedan (January 2002 - present
Faling to signal
40 in a 30 (warning)
and the red light shit listed above

I have also been pulled over in my moms accord cause one of the brake lights didnt light up, we still havent fixed it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like most of those stops aren't "bullshit", they're stupidity or accidental on your part. Either of which is a perfect reason for an officer to stop you...
1. Driving the wrong way on a one way street?
2. Not stopping on red before the right turn?
3. 80 in a 60? What's your justification for that and why shouldn't an officer stop you for it?
4. Driving with !windshield? Doesn't matter what the reason is, you should be stopped for it
5. 40 in a 30? You didn't get a ticket, you got a warning, sounds right to me...

Not trying to be an A-hole, I'm just saying most of the things you were pulled for were violations and the officer would have been perfectly justified in giving you tickets for all of them.

I've been pulled over on two occasions. Once when I was 17 for suspicion of DUI. I was driving a `71 chevy C-10 pickup with really loose steering. The second a speeding ticket for going ten miles over the sugested speed limit to make it up a hill.

I do believe... err I know that many police forces out there profile vehicles they watch you and keep track of what you do. That unsignaled turn you make when a copy screams past you is probly logged somewhere. Mesa and Apache Junction were notorious for it.

My friend another volkswagon enthusiast had the same problems a few of you have. Anytime he was pulled over in AJ his car would be searched, the cop would try and interogate him about 'where he stole the stero equipment.' All the fun stuff you hear about. There's no escaping it.

Yes, it should be cleaned up, they shouldn't treat us all like idiots. But think about it. There are quite a few kids out there that think they can road race because some video game or family member described or showed them in detail to do some trick. And then they wonder why it didn't work out when they're getting pryed from some wreck because they tried doing something you can't do in a FWD.

We have to put up with a lot of this because there are stupid people out there that don't know when to call it quits. But a friendly suggestion to folks like young mr. "Fly Rice Racer" maybe you should figure out a new exhaust design. Something with a butterfly valve somewhere in the end so that when your passing through a neighborhood or a cop is tailing you. You can shut the exhaust down to stock size so that it's muffled and you have less reason to get pulled over. You mentioned something about being distraught from financial woes. Maybe that will help? Think about it. Is it worth putting a little more money out to keep away from more tickets and run in's with your favorite local law authority?
