WIP: LS1 Supra.

Alright, well, I haven't started yet, but i've got a Corvette kit, and a Supra kit laying in my room. So I decided, i'm going to build up the LS1, take the turbo kit from the supra and put it onto the LS1, and make a Turbo LS1 Supra.

Although i'm currently in the process of moving houses, I will try to get started right away when I have some spare time, i've been very busy lately, and have lost time for the dodge, and i'm just tired of working on it, want to start something new. Then I'll finish the Dodge while i'm working on the new project.

Tell me your thoughts and opinions, should I do the turbo LS1 swap into the supra or...?

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

I like it. People (in real life) have been dropping LS1s and LS2s into RX7s for a few years now.

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

Are Ls1s normally turboed? I thought people only supercharged them.

Sacralige! Unthinkable! j/k

I guess it would be OK... but only if you stick the mighty 2JZ in the Vette!
Naw, seriously it sounds interesting and I wish you luck. I would suggest using larger turbos since you have an extra 2 cylinders to boost...

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

Well, maybe I could try and build up a custom scratchbuilt turbo, but i'm not very good at scratch building stuff, i need to get more materials and some better tools, my dremel is really ghetto.

And I figured I was going to put the 2jz into the corvette simply because I won't have any other motor to put it it... lol.

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

Alright, well, amongst the very little time i've had between driving lessons, moving and work, i was able to put together most of the motor, theres still more parts to go on, but i'm just anxious, so here's some quick updates:

Well, i had also started putting the turbo parts together from the toyota's kit, but me being a fool, the 2jz isn't the same engine set up as the ls1, sooo i'll have to make a custom exhaust manifold and turbo, and intake.

That, or should i just keep the motor N/A, simple and really clean?
Edit*: sorry for cruddy pictures, just have a webcam right now.

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

turbos aren't that bad to scratch. Go pick up some solder. It is great for making exhaust manifolds. you can make the collectors from heat shrink tubing or aluminum tubing. For simple turbos, when I first started I took a suitable piece of sprue or metal rod, and wrapped solder around it for both of the housings. If you want it to be more realistic, use two different sizes of solder, There is a wide selection at Radio Shack. I would suggest moving the headers toward the front. Or do something like they are doing on the real cars now. Remote mount turbos in the rear section of the vehicle driven by the exhaust pipe.

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

Well, i was thinking of having the headers come foward towards the front of the car, curl down, the turbo be placed there, and the exhaust run down under neath the motor like on most honda turbo set ups.

Any ideas, will that work?

Or should I just keep the motor N/A?

Unless, I could try and scratch build a twin turbo set up.

Re: WIP: LS1 Supra.

Ah, so yesterday night, amongts moving my animals cages, i found one of the supras sideskirts on the floor of the cage. In that cage, was my pet chinchilla. The chinchilla felt hungry and actually chewed most of the side skirt up, so now i don't have matching sideskirts, and i have to buy a new kit, because AMT doesn't replace their pieces.

I think, i'll buy the other kit and just use pieces from this one in different kits. Damn pets!

Once i get settled into my new house and the computer is up and running, ill take some pictures and show you the sideskirts
