01 dodge dakota,cruise control diagnose

My cruise control seems intermittant, a fellow mech tells me maybe wiring harness problem at steering column.anyone had this problem or got a fix?

Try replacing the clock spring in the steering colomn. My truck had an intermitten cruise control problem as well as an air bag warning light that came on intermittenly and that fixed it.
