Check Engine Light...Bad Computer?
I have a 1998 rodeo V6 with 123,000. I recently had a rebuilt long block put in it after a main bearing went out, thanks to an aftermarket warranty its mechanically running great again.
Now I'm having a different problem which I think is mechanical and Its leading me to think its a bad computer. A few months after the engine went in the check engine light started coming on in cylinders 3 and 5 when the engine was accelerating around 3500 rpm. It read even more miss fires that tripped the light when the engine reached the 4000 mark and one can even feel the car stumble slightly. While driving if you give it just enough gas to accelerate with out gear change you can hear a rattle from the engine like a valve knock. The mechanic told me it was bad coil. So we replaced the coils....no change. Multiple sensors including a flywheel sensor were all replaced....no change. Finally I broke down and took it to Isuzu and they had it for a day and told me they needed it for another day to talk to corporate because they could not figure out what was wrong. When they tried to reprogram the computer it wound up crashing there computer and cause mine to crash which just required a reset but they didn't know what caused that either. If anyone has any ideas or solutions it would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to spend 1000 on a comp. but if that is what it takes? |

Re: Check Engine Light...Bad Computer?
no need to spend a 1000. check out www.car-parts.com and pick up a used one for under a 100.
You may have something as easy as a bad intake manifold gasket.

Re: Check Engine Light...Bad Computer?
souds like a heaping pile of horse manure
I would be willing to bet ther is either a vacuum leak or the #3 injector connectors are crossed the only thing I know of that will destroy a PCM ir running over it with a tank or throwing on the floor if you would be willing to let me try I could contact you by whatever means you feel necessary and I could try programming this thing for you my p/c is under warranty |
