Does anybody know if there is a new improved version of clutch or slave cylinder for the fieros (1986)???? Im having alot of problems with the oem slave cylinder.....

I don't think I've ever seen any improved versions. But if thats the one that came on yours from factory maybe you just need to get a new replacement one.

Of the three P-Cars I had, none of them ever had a real problem with the clutch hydraulics. The three times I thought I had hydraulic problems turned out to be mechanical problems with the throwout fork and bearing:

On a simialar note, I'm having disengagement problems. I just bought the car and had noticed some trouble going into gear. From what I've learned, the shift cables are probably bad and the shifter itself may be cracked (lack of side-to-side movement). However, within a few days of driving this car (87 GT) the clutch got to the point where it will not go into 1st or 2nd and if I start it in 1st with the clutch depressed, the car still starts rolling. I've done some research and found that I should start with the mounting block on the clutch pedal, move to the master cylinder and push-rod and then progress to the slave.
My Question--does anyone have extra advise? Oh, my clutch pedal is about level with the brake and there is a good 2 inch soft-spot at the top of the travel after the push rod starts to move (there is a small amount of play in the connection between the push-rod and pedal). The pedal can also be moved forward about 7/8 inch before it bottoms out against the switches/sensors etc. |
