3.5l stealth/vr-4

i was wondering if anyone has ever thought of putting a 3.5l chriysler engine into a stealth or vr-4, the engine has 250hp n/a, if it were charged, it could compete with the new gtr, and maybe the new supra, I think dodge or mitsubishi should look into bringing it back. What does everyone else think, a 3.5l 6cyl, awd, aws, 2+2, the gtr is coming to america, the supra is making a return, mazda still has the rx series plate, and I just feel that those types of cars would make for not only some interesting mag articles. it would be nice, it's like we're stuck without a new version of what we proudly own. what do you think

It's been done, except with the 3.5l montero engine. It's actually pretty simple, and you can't really tell the difference especially if you use the 3000 plenum instead of the 3500. A bit faster, yes, more torque, yes, but in my oh-so-humble opinion, I'd just get a TT DOHC.

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

I hate to say this, but the truth is that the 3000GT will never be coming back. And even if it did, I'm not sure if many people would be that interested. I'm almost positive they'd end up using some crappy mivec engine, and it would weigh even more than it does now. Plus, take a look at all the newer generation cars that are coming out. GT-R = GT-needs-to-go-on-a-diet, there will not be a new Supra coming out, and the RX-8 has too many doors and not enough horses.

Cool idea? Yes. But unless Mitsubishi started exactly where they left off, I highly doubt that many enthusiasts would buy one, other than to say "I have a new 3000GT".

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

they wont bring back the 3000, and its better that way. Whenever a new version comes out, it takes away some of the exclusivity and allure of the old ones.

anyway...on the 3.5L swap, theres many obvious benefits and a few downfalls. The only bad thing i can think of, other than the work, is that im pretty sure that it has a lower redline due to the longer stroke. But its been done and theres a few threads on it. Do a search man.

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

I agree, I hope they do not make the 3/S agian. Although I would be damn curious to see what it looks like. lol

As far as the 3.5L swap, meh I'd stick with how you are or go TT. Although, isn't there rumor of a 3.7l stroker that may be expected to break another ET time.

where have you been the last year and a half? there is a new supra coming out, and there have been many spy photos out there as well. it's supposed to have a v10 engine in it. and I heard about 2 years ago that mazda is going to be coming out with the rx-7 again. working for an auto insurance company does have it's advantages

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

^^ But I thought the Supra was going to have a 6 and an 8 cyl option. I dont think I heard of the 10cyl option. Although I have also seen that rx-7, it is damn sexy.

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

Report: No new Supra; IS convertible delayed; New SC in 2008?

There will not be a new Toyota Supra, according to trade publication Automotive News. "All the rumors of the two-passenger sports car's return are false," a new report says. Instead, it looks like the Lexus LF-A will be Toyota's only supercar (pictured). The publication also said Toyota has delayed the launch of the Lexus IS convertible, because there were concerns over its competitiveness. Originally slated to debut alongside the IS coupe, the cabriolet may now be delayed until 2008. Lastly, the report indicates a successor to the Lexus SC 430 will arrive in 2008, using the IS/GS platform and a 4.6-liter V8. It will apparently feature "proportions and stance similar to those of a BMW 6 series."

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

um, idk, i think the lfe looks kinda like wat a new supra would look like, but hell idk i don't really like em, my friend does, i love the gtr, and they don't have to go on a diet, chevy will shit itself along with dodge wen they gtr hits american tracks and tracks around the world, i do however think the gtr is a little heavy, but so is every other car in it's class. and there's a new commercial on tv, saw it today during the road america race, mazda rx-7 concept was on a poster on the wall of the guys garage hallway. The rx-8 has justs as much power as the rx-7, just a lack of torque. but i still think a new stealth would be something cool, especially wen i just lost a race to a fricken civic, and yes mine is a tt

Re: 3.5l stealth/vr-4

Yes chevy and dodge will shit themselves when a car comes out that cant compete with the z06 or the viper...........

Hell the new GTR will probably have trouble keeping up with the new camaro and challenger.
