Problems

I have a 99 Cavalier Z-24 that all of sudden won't start for me. When I try to start it nothing happens. The car won't turn over, radio won't turn on, power windows won't work, wipers won't work, most doesn't work. The lights and power locks and hazard lights still work but nothing else. Battery is good so I can't figure out what could be wrong with it. I have tried to use a code reader but I keep getting a "link error". Anyone know what could be causing this. Car was running perfect then I parked it for the nite and it wouldn't crank after that. Please help I am in a bind...

Re: Problems

Makes you wonder if someone put something in your gas tank, like moth balls, the night before.

Re: Problems

Sounds like a dying battery to me. If its the original battery 10-1 its dead. Mine died in my 99 over last winter from no use. Check all your fuses, connections, grounds you can find.

Re: Problems

I agree with Cody, sounds like a battery. My friend's Focus died on her and her lights and radio and stuff still worked...It was her battery.

Re: Problems

well i checked my battery and it turned out bad put a new one in and still not working. For those who don't understand the only thing that works on the car is the power locks, and lights. The chime when door is open works but sounds like crap. My radio won't turn on, blinkers won't work, car won't start and power windows won't work. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong with it. Please advise I am desperate

Re: Problems

I'd say check all fuses and relays starting at the main box under the hood. If electricity is getting to minimal things and not others on top of getting weak current to the things that are working, I would imagine a possible bad ground or fuse/relay malfunction somewhere, considering the batery is brand new. When I had my Wrangler, there was a paper thin (looked like tissue paper when I cleaned it off) build-up of corrosion on the negative battery post, and that prevented the whole vehicle from getting enough juice to crank. I'm always surprised when the smallest things in an electrical system can cause problems. Just my
