If you're getting the car for free then you should ave the $ and get a manual trans and slap that baby in there and the problem's fixed.

an auto is still worth it, fix it up as much as you want. I've been burned by autos before and I drive a stick. You can make an auto be very fast, and they work better with nitrous oxide.

damn you MUST NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE if you got burnt by an automatic!! not only that they DO NOT WORK BETTER WITH NITROUS!! you will definately screw up your tranny with nitrous because with an automatic tranny, there are so many gears moving at the same time and to use nitrous and just floor the pedal without not knowing when to let off because you're not switching gears will F*uck your gears up! with a manual you have to switch gears and when you do, you let off the gas and that let's off the nitrous saving your motor and tranny from detination. :alien:

the car I was racing had all of the bolt ons you can think of, and a turbo. I didn't say I was racing a car with the same mods I have. So it doesn't matter how well I drive, you would have lost too if you were in my car racing against him. And it is a proven fact that nitrous works better in autos!

Is it? well how about this, you can take a sluggish auto civic and i'll take a manual civic, add 50 shot/single wet fogger to both of them and let's see who makes it to the finish line first! i bet you anything your sluggish 4 speed auto tranny will fall behind. i've been to so many races and seen so many automatics use nitrous and get such sluggish time slips. maybe if you had a built auto tranny then it would do some good. and also if this was a proven fact, why dont' you see any professionals using automatic trannys?

autos have been generally rated better. i bet half of you can't drive as well as you think so an auto would most likely beat you. autos never miss a gear. i agree that if you get the car for free, if it bothers you, save up the $$ to switch the tranny. otherwise, look into racing chips for autos...

I would go auto on an accord, but on a civic I think the engine is too small for an auto to be of any benefit.

There is a legend auto with a lot of mods here in napa and the guy runs 13.7 in the 1/4 mile

Last time i checked there was an automatic dodge neon that was winning a bunch of pro events it was running 8's, but i think they crashed it. so yes pro's do use automatic tranmissions and also some formula-1 indy cars run automatic trannys.

here in WI it is legal to have it but you can't have it hooked up, but there are a lot of cars that runny around my city with nitrous(NOS is a company) that have it hooked up.
