I purchased the ProComp 3" suspension lift the other day. I am putting 31x11.50/16lt on rock rims. So with lift and tires, I will get about 5 inches of new lift. SO now to the questions;
I was getting it installed today, and I must say, the guy was pissing me off. Either way, I have some quick questions for anyone. 1) The "U" Bolts seem to be completley "BIGGER", not just "Longer" for the added leaf, does this pose a problem? (the old "U" bolt fits inside the new "U" bolt... )2) Does it matter if the largest clamp around the "leaf springs" got broke in removal, do I need to replace it? I think so, but the mechanic is telling me that the "U" bolt clamps will hold it. I am not buying that, any takers? Any help would be together so I can get this jeep in the air.

*If the kit is 3", the body will be 4.5" higher than before. (Tire diameter is 3" more and radius is only 1.5" more.) At this height, you might have a driveshaft vibe (around 30-35 MPH).
*Get the right size U-bolts...the Dana rear axle and the Chrysler rear axle tubes are different diameters (you don't say what year yours is). *Recommend a new clamp, it is there keep the leafs from spinning around (although one might do it)...they are not expensive. Best regards.. |

Re: Procomp 3" Lift kit ?
Agreed with Bra,
If you're paying someone to install it, have them replace the spring clamp and put the correct size u-bolts on. I dont know if you ordered the kit or the shop that is doing the work ordered it but most kits ask you what rearend you have so they can send you the correct u-bolts. The person that ordered the lift should've gotten the right ones. As for the spring clamp, you probably wont need it but if you are paying to the install, have them do it right, they arent that expensive, it wont be a hardship for the shop to fix that, if they dont want to, its just because of laziness. |
