Clear Corners

Hey yall, I have an '02 Cavy, I was wondering if there is a way to make the turn signal/corner lights clear without purchasing a turn signal assembly. I put a set of ultra-whites in today and when I had the assembly out it looks like the corners just have some amber-colored piece in them. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Clear Corners

I think you can stick a screw driver in there and break it up, that's what my buddy did with his Kia. The 00+ lights are pretty big so I don't think it'd be a problem OR if you're looking to do it right/longer way you can heat the light assembly up in your oven for a bit, just enough to loosen up the adhesive glue holding the light cover on, take that off and remove the amber yourself and glue the cover back on, and you're golden. I'm not exactly sure how high to set the oven but you only want to melt the glue enough to remove the cover or what glue to use that would be strong enough to lock out moisture. You could try a hair blowdryer first but I learned this way from Jbo, they wanted to paint the inside of their headlights on the 03+ cavs.

I used the oven to crack mine open so I could black/clear/paint my headlights on my 04. Takes alot less time and effort.

Re: Clear Corners

Most people do it at about 400 degrees for about 10-20 mintues. I bought mine off of ebay years ago, and never had a problem with them. The only problem I have now is that one is busted because some dumbass backed all the way across the damn parking lot and hit my car about a month ago. I still dont have the money to fix it...that bastard

Re: Clear Corners

just a thought, but wouldnt putting them in the oven melt all the wires or the bulb assembly? 400 degrees sounds like a lot for wires to go through and just didnt know how tough they actuall were......

Re: Clear Corners

....you only put the blinker light assembly in. Not the bulb or bulb housing or any wires.

Re: Clear Corners

Alright, a few things came up today, wasn't able to do the lights. Have to wait til Friday to do it. But as a quick question out of curiousity, what size are the bulbs in the corner assembly on the 02's? I've been looking on google to find it but haven't been able to yet. Just wanted to know the size, so when I go to pick them up I can grab em and go.

*EDIT* Nevermind on sizes, I found them on the Sylvania website. So, until Friday, thanks for the help, much appreciated

Re: Clear Corners

I will do my best to get pics when it is all done, I have to wait til Friday to be able to do it, time constraints with my new shift here on base. Duty calls and takes priority over pretty much all until mission done. The lights are my number on priority on Friday though, nothin else in the plans as of yet.
