Need help to improve my '90 Civic

Hey guys, first post here.

I'm picked up a used Civic LX. It's in very good condition, but everything is completely stock and it has the very very small 90HP engine. What can I do to improve power and acceleration?

If I were you I'd do an engine swap first. Most common engine swaps would be the d16z6/y8, or b16/18. The d16 swap is a direct bolt in engine and can be installed for around $600-800 (gives you 125hp w/ VTEC, SOHC). The b16/18 swap requires more work and modifying, but is a common swap and you can get that done for $2500-3500 (gives you 160hp w/ VTEC, DOHC). Either engine would be a great choice. Both have excellent aftermarket support, and can make a lot of HP with the right mods.

Ditto. Don't waste your money on headers intake and exhaust just yet if you want to see some serious hp gains... Cuz it's a pretty good possibility that you'll have to buy new ones when you finally do an engine swap (aside from the D16a6, z6, or y8).

OK- So, the D16 is my best bet. I can get the engine installed for about $800, and that includes the cost of the engine? Or just the labor?

I dont know about the money part but you would be better off with a D16, I'd like to go with a D16Z6 or Y8 but the jackals that own the junkyards around here are too damn greedy when they see the "H" emblem on a part. the Z6 and Y8 are newer and should have less mileage, you just have to hook up the vtec, Ami "LadyNRedSi" would be the best person to talk to about that though.
