neon doesnt want to shift right away
my 95 neon will shift from 1st to 2nd good but takes a long time to shift from 2nd right when i start when cold

Check your fluid level and add only Mopar ATF+4 to it if needed. You may also want to look into adjusting your kickdown band.

figured out what was wrong, it was way over full of fluid
 whoever had the car b4 me over filled it coulda done some damage but i think i caught it soon enough thanks for the advice

I have the same problem.. levels are ok,, type of fluid in trans is ??? Also when I step on the gas peddle it gets hard about 1/2 way down, if I really press hard like to pass it jumps out of drive.. I disconnected the kickdown cable at the throttle base and now the gas peddle works fine.. would this damage the transmission? still have the cold shifting problem.
