Help meh find muuffullarrr :D

Flowmaster 80 Series is what im 'eye-balling' at the moment, more than likely a 2" dual outlet for my 99GASEV6.

At the moment my ghetto pipe I had done last x-mas is startin to sag more than usual not good. and I want to be able to have a muffler that sits on its own with hangers and I dont have to worry about lifting it up with my bare hands and re-tightening, big pain in the booty .

Purpose of this post is, Im never home , nor do I have time at work to search for the lowest price on a muffler online.

Plans are to buy cheapest priced 80series 2", then find a local muffler shop to fab me up a flange (after they drill thru the rusted bolts of the old), hook it up to my OEM Cat, -> New flange (if possible, I plan on high-flo cat in future), then straight piping it 2" all the way to the muffler to 'Y' dual out/dual tip. As for tips, I would like dual tip, chrome maybe but I dunno if anything like that could be welded? I hear that steel once made goes bleh on rust if not protected or somethin, and my dad was once a welder should of paid attention lol

Re: Help meh find muuffullarrr :D

Just did a Google on the 80 series #42583, found a few places that are cheap!
I paid $140 ? for the one on my SE

you said you wanted 2"? that one is 2.5" in/out .
The 2" should be cheaper even.

I'll check around on the net and see if I can find any cheap Flowmasters.
Here is a sitewhere you can hear certain exhausts on cars.

Re: Help meh find muuffullarrr :D

Well at the resonator its about 2.25, then after the resonator it drops between 1 7/8-- 2", on the SE's that is.
The GTs are bigger by about 1/4 - 1/2".

They do vary a bit, at least in the 200 or so I hav worked on.
Might hav been where they were made too
It doesnt matter really if you are replacing all the existing pipe.

Just deside what size pipe you want 2" or 2.5" from the cat back. The 2" is cheaper, but that kinda redundant in that you started with around 2" stock. Just my
The 2.5" is worth it!
Then get the muffler that fits/works for you.

I posted a link on the off topic earlier, Ebay baby!
Saw a "slightly" used 42583 flowmaster off a camero.

Re: Help meh find muuffullarrr :D

I believe the 40series is to big and not the right in /out setup. We were talking about the 80 series.

Your GA muffler sit in back sidways(if you didnt know).
Heres the Flowmaster website.

The 40 series is for a straight run like on V8s.
It migth work but good luck getting it under there.

I know the 80 series says it for Camaros & Firebirds, but if you look at PFYC.com the SLP cat back uses the 80 series (#42583) with thier exhaust kit.

Also thier is several models of the 40 and 80 series.

Well i had one on my 98 lesabre and the muffler layout was close to the same, and it only had a 3800, but maybe the ga is more different than it seems, and since this is my first ga i dont kno everything about it yet. so would the 80 sound anywhere close to the 40?

Re: Help meh find muuffullarrr :D

The 40 and 80 do sound simular. The 40s are more for single in/out.
The 80 series is a little bigger and does(to me anyway)sound deeper on the tone.

But when a car has real dual, V8, and two 40s then its much louder & lower tone. But thats a V8 for ya

I'm probably getting one of those too someday... 42582 or 42583 for a 99 SE?

Yeah i love V8's even stock they sound awsome and powerful.
alright then ill look at the 80's , now another question, where would be a good place to get that and preferably the piping too, i just want to make sure everything is 100% accurate before i start looking into getting this for my car, i dont want to screw anything up and get a wrong part so yeah.
thanks for all the help

If I remember right, getting a custom job done for the piping is cheaper... if I read one of XI's earlier posts correctly

ONLY get stainless steel though!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Help meh find muuffullarrr :D

thier is the SLP kit from parts for your car site. Its about $450 and uses the 80series #42583 muffler.

Other then that you wont find much pipe bent for the GA.
The tough part is getting it bent right over the rear axle and not hitting anything.
