Interior modifications

Personally I don't really like the interior on my camaro... is there any modifications to give it a more spiffier look?

Re: Interior modifications

I was kind of being a smartass. Doing fiberglass would be incredibly custom and look stunning, if you knew what you were doing. If this is your first time with fiberglass you will probably tear up your car, make a mess, and get fed up with it a week into the project. But if you really wanted to do it I could elaborate on some projects you could try. Just keep in mind this would be a long, drawn out, challenging project.

Re: Interior modifications

you forgot the super duper big pack of sand paper and 10000 dust masks and about 10 kegs. lots of free time, and maybe some drugs to help with creativity....might be a bad idea lol. wake up the next day, why is there a big fiberglass giraffe where my passanger seat should be??? wtf, lol . but yeah if you are good with fiberglass it would be way custom and look good.....hopefully

Re: Interior modifications

if you are going to get technical.
50 disposable paint brushes.
100 sq.ft of plastic sheeting.
some sort of powered cutter. air saw. die grinder.
several sheets of mdf.
gallon of thinned paint or several sq.yards of your cloth of choice.
stapler. preferably pneumatic.
countless other tools.
you're wallet is pretty much doomed if you want to attempt a project like this, unless you already have all this stuff and in that case you are set.

Re: Interior modifications

ORRRRRR, if you can weld (currently finishing up a welding class) you can make your own dash / console / headliner, etc, out of sheet metal and it won't be nearly as heavy as all that MDF bullshit. MDF is HEAVY (mostly made out of resin).

Go to a scrap metal yard, 1/16" - 1/8" steel might run $100 (or so I've been told), and get naugahyde to cover it all with. If the metal yard turns out to be too expensive, go get a couple of hoods out of a junk yard and sand them down.

I am doing the entire interior of mine because I refuse to pay Year One or Classic Industries $350 for a vinyl dash pad, and then spend another $2000 on the dash bezel, gauges, switches and wiring, etc.

Also, this way I can set up a custom gauge layout, etc.
