Rear Deck

Good evening. Im running a '98 GP GT Sedan, V-6 3800 series II with the 8 speaker setup. Im getting her tinted 17% as soon as the role arrives, however the fellow doing the job requested that, if possible, the rear deck over the trunk be removed to allow him more space to apply the tint into the corners of the rear facing window. I have yet to pull the deck off and im not entirely sure how to do it, if possible at all. To the Point. my inquiry for the evening being, is the deck removable? and if so, how? Thank you, and as always, your help is much appreciated.

good luck with the rest of your projects,
-MrPockets

Re: Rear Deck

You'll need to remove the rear seat to get the rear deck cover off, but it's fairly simple. There are 2 pull tabs that release the lower cushion, along the seam of the carpet and the bottom of the seat. Then remove the four bolts that hold the bottom of the seat back in place. Two are 10mm headed bolts (the outers), and two are 13mm headed bolts (they also mount the seatbelts). Once those are removed, just lift the seatback up and out. You'll see two black push retainers on the outer edge of the shelf carpet that need to be removed to get the carpet out.
