Re: 62 Chevy Saginaw Transmission Problems
You munst have a T10 or a Muncie.
The Saginaw that I have looks exactly like the one in B.B.'s pic. |

Re: 62 Chevy Saginaw Transmission Problems
Surprise! That is a T-10, but a Chevy T-10. And it's a 1964 model year Corvette version - Back in the old days, when Borg-Warner used to be the "Warner Gear Division" or General Motors. You might want to find a shifter based on that.

Re: 62 Chevy Saginaw Transmission Problems
Again I thank you for your reply. The transmission I have doesn't look like the ones you have showed me. The # I can see is GM 3925656. Where on your pictures one of the shifting gears is on the tail all of mine are on the inspection plate. and there are only 7 bolts as to the one you showed me has 9. Do you still think its a T 10. Again thanks for your help.

Re: 62 Chevy Saginaw Transmission Problems
James,
Sorry for the confusion. YOUR transmission is probably a late '60s or early '70s Saginaw. When TEXAS-HOTROD replied that HIS looked like the photo, I meant that HIS was likely a T-10. |

BB
thanks for your reply. Trying to restore a 62 Impala SS. Working on the floor pans now and got side tracked with the transmission linkage. Again thanks Jim |

Re: 62 Chevy Saginaw Transmission Problems
If you're trying to restore a 1962 Impala, you might want to hunt down a T-10, since the Saginaw trans in that range of years was only a three-speed, IIRC. If having everything match is not a concern, stick with what you have.

Re: 62 Chevy Saginaw Transmission Problems
Is Mr.Gasket still in business? They used to make the ultimate 4-speed shifter for the Saginaws. On a par with the Hurst Comp Plus. If you want to keep the Saginaw even for a spare tranny, you might try to find one.
