advice on a cheep power upgrade

i have seen some comericals on the Cold air intake kits lately. Better gas milage and more HP.

Anyone know of any truth to these comericals, Wondering if anyone has one installed and how its worked out for you? Worth the $$ or not?

the stock airboxes are not to restrictive on 96+ trucks. the cheapest upgrade would be to get the kit off ebay that includes only the pipe from the MAF sensor forward and a K&N cone filter. Those do the same as the K&N FIPK's and Airade intakes but for alot less. the gain will be mostly in the upper rpm range

I got about 1MPG better fuel economy with the K&N FIPK II Kit I put on mine. I am averaging ~21 Highway and ~18 city. I know it is hard to believe but they have been my averages since April 06'.

I won't doubt it, but in most cases during normal cruising and driveing, ythe standard filter is allowing enough air through for no performance loss. Now when you hound on it....that's a different story.
