A/C Comp Squeeling
hey, i have a 92 Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo. I recently installed a new tensioner pulley and idler pulley to eliminate an old squeel. Recently though another one popped up. It's the A/C Compressor cause when I turn the A/C on, it gets really loud. I rev it up to about 5k RPMs, the squeeling stops and the little red light beside the snowflake lights up on my climate control. I let it idle back down and it constantly squeels. I had a friend to tell me that the clutch might be going out of it but we really don't know for sure since I have only had the car for about 6 months. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A/C Comp Squeeling
Could it maybe be the belt? Because I remember I had a squeel whenever I turned on the AC as well and it turned out to be the belt. What we did was spray some fluid (WD-40 I think...) on the belt and the sqeeling went away for about 10 seconds and came back squeeling again. LOL I didn't have any tools on me because I was in college so a shop changed it for me and the squeeling went away. So yeah, just a thought...

Schecter--> i would inspect the belt first, replace if necessary. while you're down there, inspect the clutch on the compressor. you could spray some wd-40 with the hopes of lubricating a tight joint. i've never heard of people rebuilding/fixing clutches on a/c compressors, but that's not to say its impossible. i think its just easier to simply replace the clutch. but in some circumstances, the clutch can be more expensive than the compressor unit (compressor + clutch) itself. go figure. i'll do a part/price search for compressor, clutch, entire assembly. EDIT: nevermind the price search...you can find one used for cheap, and just pull parts off that one.

Re: A/C Comp Squeeling
Agreed, I'd check for an old worn or loose belt first.
