MK3 Golf VR6 - MFA comp

Please help. My MFA works perfectly whilst driving but once I switch the car off the clock turns off. Turn the ignition back on and the clock goes to 12.00 and the computer has reset? any ideas?

sounds like a faulty instrument cluster. Check the fuses on the fuse pannel first, also check the battery connections (make sure there clean and on tight).
-also ignition switches are a common failure on theese
