87 Suburban 3/4T Idler Arm question

Did the front brakes on my Burb a few days ago...
Had a upper ball joint fail on me a few moths ago... scary, but ok in the end!
Anyway, I was looking about and I noticed that the passenger side has a part that I see is called the idler arm that connects the long steering rod to the track arm on the pass side...
I saw that there was some up and down movement in the joint.... difficult to describe... but the the arm seemed to be able to move up(Toward the chassis leg) and down on suspension droop..
The pitman arm does not do this on the drivers side, so is this normal or do I need to replace it???

Re: 87 Suburban 3/4T Idler Arm question

You need to replace it. I'd suggest a MOOG "Problem Solver" replacement part, since they have improved bushings and greater bearing area to reduce this wear. A loose idler will introduce some lash in the steering.

It sounds as if you've already had your fill of loose front ends, so I don't need to persuade you to repair it.
