Both Turn Signal Dash Indicator Light On

I have 96 GMC S-15 Jimmy and when I turn the headlights on, both turn signal indicator lights on the dash come on. I've checked all outside headlights, turn signal, license plate lamp and tail lights thinking something might be burnt out but everything is working fine. Any ideas?

Re: Both Turn Signal Dash Indicator Light On

I still have the Jimmy and the turn lights are still coming on when I turn on the headlights. I guess I've just learned to live with it since nobody had any thoughts on what it might be.

This could be a multifunction switch problem. Have you had any other issues? Your Hazzard light button, try moving it little from side to side is there any play?

Re: Both Turn Signal Dash Indicator Light On

I think you might be on to something. If I have the lights on and then turn on the hazzard lights, obviously they blink but then when I push the button down to turn them off, right before it clicks both of the lights are off and not blinking. Then once it clicks into the off positiion then they come back on. So there might just be enough play in that switch that is causing it to make contact.

Those switches can be replaced instead of the whole assembly. I have to find the article that was on here about that, it could be in the tech section of this forum. The actual switch can just be replaced and can fix this problem.
