Best Brakes & Strut replacement parts

Hello,

I have a 94 GT3000 SL.

I would like to get recommendations for the best brake pads, rotors and front struts for replacing these stock parts with similar.

Recommendations can be for both - purchase online or at a chain store.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

If you want stock replacements go with Raybestos PG Plus rotors and Raybestos Quiet Stop pads. They stop pretty damn good, they are quiet, and they don't dust nearly as bad.

As for the stock replacement dampers, I wouldn't waste the money. I would get some descent street performance dampers instead.

Re: Best Brakes & Strut replacement parts

Staying away from specific brands (because everyone has their favorites for different reasons)...

For street driving I would suggest ceramic (includes carbon-metallic) pads and non-slotted, non-crossdrilled rotors. The combination will have low dust, last a long time and be a lot better then stock.

For racing you are looking at metalic pads with slotted rotors but they are petty much horrid on the street: squeals like a dying pig, dusts like you are looking for figureprints, but slows you down like you your car is tied to a anchor.

If you are looking at a brake upgrade, look into SS brake lines... It's the biggest bank for the buck performance upgrade.

I agree with Polygon... ECS really is a gimmick compared with modern performance dampeners...

Re: Best Brakes & Strut replacement parts

for dampners/struts, the KYB GR-2 gas strut is a good choice, and considerably cheaper than the OE stock replacements. i think also Monroe makes a strut for our cars.

Re: Best Brakes & Strut replacement parts

for the KYB struts, www.3sx.com has pretty good prices on them. since your SL has ECS, make sure to choose that option.

also, i would recommend www.thepartsbin.com since they sell very good quality OEM parts AND some aftermarket parts. the great thing about this site is that they will give you FREE SHIPPING on orders over $50. i've bought from them several times. good stuff.
